Rookie Rugby


Rookie Rugby is a safe and fun game for boys and girls of any age. It helps players builds character and life skills through teamwork, hard work, co-operation, and respect for others. Rugby has the ability to break down barriers and build life-long friendships. Skills learned in rugby transfer to soccer, football, lacrosse, and life.

NJ Rugby Academy’s first Rookie Rugby session will be for 1-6 Graders on Wednesdays in August from 6-7pm, more grades and times will be added soon.

NJ Rugby Academy is led by Pat Moroney who is the Varsity Rugby Coach at Christian Brothers Academy and father to two Rookie Rugggers. Pat has played and coached rugby for over 35 years from grassroots to Elite and currently is the Director of Rugby at Monmouth Rugby Club, Rugby New Jersey 15 High Performance Director and Empire GU High Performance Director.

New Jersey Rugby Academy and all it’s coaches are registered with USA Rugby which ensures all coaches have current coaching, safety and background certification. All Rookie Rugby players must register with first at this link USA RUGBY – When asked what team you are joining pick state is New Jersey and team is New Jersey Rugby Academy. Also please complete this USA Rugby waiver and consent form and bring to the first session. Cost $25 for all 4 sessions in August.
